JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a full-time toddler teacher who is passionate about working in a developing program. This person is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program for young children that complies with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Our teachers nurture children, provide strong and compassionate classroom management and support a play based, Reggio Emilia inspired program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Involvement in development of our current preschool program
- Communication with parents and guardians
- Capacity to work in a teaching team with other teachers and a team of specialists
- Develop activities that engage children’s interests, document learning, and create a pleasing school environment
- Establish and manage classroom agreements and class community with the children
- Provide written lesson plan and reflection to Director and parents
- Integrate special needs children in a respectful manner.
- Scaffold children’s learning and help facilitate exploration of open-ended monthly themes
- Work with pre literacy and pre-academic skills
- Support children to see themselves as capable engaged participants in their own education
- Support children to develop conflict management skills with one another
- Provide friendly supportive structure and boundaries without being punitive
- Possess an understanding of child development
- Capacity to identify challenges in the classroom or that individual children are having and to create a plan of support that will lead to success
